EARTHLY LIFE IN THE NEXT WORLD
In the tombs of Tarquinia, the english author DH Lawrence, relives the life style of the Etruscans in a realistic way. Vividly coloured frescoes transform the mortuary rooms into richly decorated apartments, inhabited by dissolute, drinkers and musicians, or luxuriant landscapes filled with hunters, animals, and fishermen. The dead should want for nothing. Jugs of wine, goblets, small figurines even miniature chariots were placed next to them. In this way they would feel at home in the next world, such was considered the tomb itself.
