Character

  Ampeleia is not only an estate or a wine, but the name of the project centred on the interaction and study of the synergy between mankind and nature. From the stones of the medieval village of Roccatederighi, the property runs down towards the sea, in a territory made by numerous plots of land, hidden amongst the dense vegetation, in a land where earlier settlers nourished the vines.
The vision of three friends gave birth to Ampeleia in 2002. Even before having an estate  or  a wine, Ampeleia was a vision 

  of three person who looked at the future envisaging a style that could represent both elegancy as well as all the bio-diversity of a territory. Today the estate is located between an altitude gap of 600 and 200m above sea level with 50 ha planted of Cabernet Franc, Sangiovese and other 5 mediterranean grape varieties.
And so all the work starts in the vineyards, ending then inside the bottle through the ideal fusion of all these variables.


Today the hectares are nearly 50, planted with Cabernet Franc and Sangiovese, together with 5 other varietals. The path was ready for a wine with a character which is deeply rooted in this territory, in the varietal garden – Ampeleia. Thus the name is explained: from ancient greek ( “ampelos” as grape ) with an Italianised sound, Ampeleia.
