For me, during the harvest, the winery becomes a place of intimacy and personal knowledge. I’m writing you thoughts born from that space, that become words, exactly the way the fruit is transformed into wine.
It is time to share a few thoughts with you, to report our observations, to tell you what is happening in Ampeleia.
At harvest time, the winery becomes the centre of the universe.
From the open horizon of the vineyard, one moves to a more secluded space, where the process that turns the grapes into wine envelopes and amplifies all the senses with its energy, prompting a whirlwind of emotions and thoughts.
Once again, harvesting in September. Regaining the time of nature and the time of one’s own feelings. Listening, waiting, recognizing new and yet so familiar energies.
Marco Tait, our winemaker, takes us through Ampeleia’s vineyards describing this year’s unusual season, among rain, flowers … and plenty of chamomile plants.
Winter is the season of silence.
One can find time to think, to listen to the voice of our ideas that continue to work for Tomorrow, just like Life within the vineyards, without making a sound.
Marco Tait has described his winter and that of Ampeleia in the rough pages of the splendid magazine Pietre Colorate.
